28 Fundamental Beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church

1. The Holy Scriptures
The Bible, Old and New Testaments, is the written Word of God, given by divine inspiration.

2. The Trinity
There is one God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, a unity of three co-eternal Persons.

3. The Father
God the Father is the Creator, Source, Sustainer, and Sovereign of all creation.

4. The Son
Jesus Christ, the eternal Son, became incarnate to save humanity through His life, death, and resurrection.

5. The Holy Spirit
The Spirit inspired Scripture, convicts of sin, points to Christ, and renews believers’ lives.

6. Creation
God created the heavens and earth in six days and rested on the seventh day.

7. The Nature of Humanity
Men and women were made in God’s image with individuality, free will, and stewardship.

8. The Great Controversy
Humanity is involved in a cosmic conflict between Christ and Satan.

9. The Life, Death, and Resurrection of Christ
Through Christ’s perfect life and atoning sacrifice, believers are reconciled to God.

10. The Experience of Salvation
Salvation is a gift of grace received through faith in Jesus Christ.

11. Growing in Christ
The Holy Spirit transforms believers, enabling victory over evil powers.

12. The Church
The Church is the community of believers who confess Jesus as Lord and Savior.

13. The Remnant and Its Mission
The remnant proclaim the everlasting gospel, calling the world to prepare for Christ’s return.

14. Unity in the Body of Christ
In Christ we are a new creation, transcending distinctions of race, gender, and class.

15. Baptism
Baptism is a public declaration of faith in Jesus and entrance into His church.

16. The Lord’s Supper
A memorial of Jesus’ sacrifice, open to all believers.

The Spirit gives gifts to believers for service and building up the church.

The gift of prophecy is one of the identifying marks of the remnant church.

The Ten Commandments express God’s will and character and are binding on all.

20. The Sabbath
The seventh day (Saturday) is the Sabbath, a day of rest and worship.

21. Stewardship
We are God’s stewards, called to manage His gifts of time, talent, and resources.

22. Christian Behavior
Believers are called to represent Christ in lifestyle, dress, diet, relationships, and recreation.

23. Marriage and the Family
Marriage is a lifelong union between a man and a woman, established by God.

24. Christ’s Ministry in the Heavenly Sanctuary
Christ ministers in the heavenly sanctuary on our behalf as High Priest.

25. The Second Coming of Christ
The blessed hope of the church is Christ’s literal, visible, and imminent return.

26. Death and Resurrection
The dead remain unconscious until the resurrection at Christ’s return.

27. The Millennium and the End of Sin
During the millennium, the redeemed live in heaven while earth is desolate. At the end, sin and sinners are destroyed.

28. The New Earth
God will create a new earth where righteousness dwells and the redeemed live forever.
